Two victories for W&S Motorsport at the GTC Race season opener in Oschersleben

W&S Motorsport won the season opener of the GTC Race in Oschersleben. Guest starters Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still outpaced their opponents in the GT60 powered by Pirelli race and clinched the first win of the season for the team from Ofterdingen. Kronberg repeated the success on Sunday, winning the second sprint race.

"After the podium in Imola, our duo Kronberg/Still achieved their first victory of the season, an excellent result for our team," said team boss Daniel Schellhaas happily and continued: "The changing conditions of the track made it difficult to choose the right strategy, but with our many years of experience we made the right decisions, which was rewarded with two first places. Max did very well in the two sprint races and again proved his strength in the Cayman with his win in the second race."

Victory in the first race on Saturday

For the GT60 powered by Pirelli race, Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still qualified the #87 W&S Motorsport Cayman for the second grid position in the GT4 class and eighth overall. The duo narrowly missed out on pole position, just 0.073 seconds behind the pole-setter.

Under changeable weather conditions on Saturday afternoon, the field of 18 participants started with two formation laps. The team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas opted for slicks and starting driver Still already made up four places after two laps. He led the GT4 class and even managed to leave some GT3 cars behind. He handed over the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS #87 as the best GT4 car and in fourth place overall to his team mate Max Kronberg. Kronberg drove consistently fast lap times and crossed the finish line in first place in the GT4 class.

Hendrik Still was happy: "It was a very successful guest start in the championship and we are pleased about our first victory this season! I had exciting battles in Saturday's race and Max performed well throughout the weekend. He was also rewarded for this with victory in the second sprint race. We want to build on this performance in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Our team W&S Motorsport has again prepared the new Cayman perfectly and chosen the right strategy. Many thanks to everyone for the great work!"

Two sprint races and another win on Sunday

For the first sprint race, Kronberg already qualified on Saturday for the seventh starting position and 13th overall. The qualifying for the second sprint race started in slightly wet conditions. Max Kronberg maintained second position for a long time, eventually finishing the second qualifying session in third place on the grid in class and 11th overall.

The first race on Sunday was held in cold and windy conditions. Max Kronberg was hit directly after the start and dropped to the back of the field. The German started a great race to catch up, made up some positions in the course of the race and finished sixth in the GT4 class (13th overall).

Race two in the afternoon was contested from the fourth row. Max Kronberg had a very good start and moved up to second place. An exciting battle of three for the top spot ensued. Kronberg overtook the leader with a clever manoeuvre on the last lap just before the final turn to secure his second win of the weekend.

"Two wins in three races, that's fantastic!" said Kronberg. "The team did a mega job! The first sprint race would have gone much better without the contact on the first lap, but that's motorsport. I think we were able to prepare perfectly for the rest of the GT4 season and are now highly motivated for the start of the ADAC GT4 Germany campaign."

The next ADAC Racing Weekend with the GTC Race will take place in mid-July. Then W&S Motorsport will be back in the hunt for points in three races at the Lausitzring and for young talent Luca Arnold, who had to skip the season opener due to technical problems, to compete for the coveted GT3 sponsorship spot in the series next year.
