W&S Motorsport and AVIA racing to enter ADAC GT4 Germany together

W&S Motorsport and the petrol station operator and energy retailer AVIA from Munich will team up as AVIA W&S Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Nicolaj Møller Madsen (28/DEN) will be driving the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in AVIA racing design. With whom the racing professional from Denmark will share the cockpit will be announced at a later date. W&S Motorsport achieved two podium finishes and numerous top 10 results in ten races as guest starter in the German racing series last year.

The racing team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas looks back on an impressive 2021 season. Victory in the Manthey Trophy, the runner-up title in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and runner-up in the team championship of the GTC Race are the highlights in the team's history so far.

Team Principal Daniel Schellhaas is confident about the new season: "We are very happy about the partnership with AVIA racing and our joint participation in ADAC GT4 Germany. Last year's guest starts showed our potential and we enjoyed the championship very much. Now we are taking up the challenge in the tight field of GT4 cars to fight for race wins and possibly even the title. With Nicolaj we have a strong and experienced driver in the cockpit of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. Who will race alongside him will be announced soon. We are also planning the entry of at least one more Porsche."

"We are very pleased to be competing with W&S Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany from this season onwards," says Stephan Hauke, responsible for sports marketing at AVIA. He further explains, "The series is a perfect platform to showcase our brand and with Team W&S Motorsport and fast drivers in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, we are starting a promising partnership. It will be exciting racing and we can certainly celebrate many successes."

Møller Madsen won the championship in 2020 in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and showed his skills at the 2021 season finale at the Nürburgring at the wheel of the Space-Drive Cayman from W&S Motorsport. Here he finished in third and second position.

"I am happy to be back racing in ADAC GT4 Germany. This time with the strongest combination I have ever been in: the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport run by AVIA W&S Motorsport. Just thinking about it brings a big smile to my face," says Møller Madsen and continues: "I am very excited to be working with Daniel and Patrick again. They gave me the chance to race at the Nürburgring last year where we proved to be the fastest Porsche car with a double podium finish. After this weekend I knew one of my programs for 2022 would have to be with W&S Motorsport. They are a very professional and ambitious team, but still with both feet on the ground. Teaming up with AVIA racing is a big honour as well. We have a strong package to fight for the championship and I can’t wait to be back on track."

For 2022, 23 teams with over 40 cars have entered the ADAC GT4 Germany so far. Up to seven manufacturers will be represented and a grid of experienced drivers and young talents will offer thrilling racing over 60 minutes per race. The season opener of the ADAC GT4 Germany will take place on the last weekend of April in Oschersleben. The racing series, which is organised as part of the ADAC GT Masters events, will also visit the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Zandvoort in the Netherlands, the Nürburgring and the Sachsenring before staging the season finale at Hockenheim on the penultimate weekend in October.
