W&S Motorsport competes in ADAC GT4 Germany with third Cayman GT4 and two fast youngsters

W&S Motorsport continues to expand its commitment in the ADAC GT4 Germany, fielding a third car in the new season. The team's Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 MR will be driven by the young talents Leo Pichler (20/AUT) and Leon Wassertheurer (19/GER). Both drivers are no strangers to the German racing series and finished last year's season tied for third place in the junior classification. In 2022, they want to fight for victories in the junior category together with the Swabian racing team and finish at the top of the final standings.

"With Leo and Leon, I would like to welcome the third strong driver pairing to the team for our ADAC GT4 Germany campaign. I am delighted to see two such great and ambitious talents in the Cayman and I am sure that the two of them will successfully stand their ground in the strong field!", says team boss Daniel Schellhaas.

Leo Pichler and Leon Wassertheurer come from KTM's junior squad and have already achieved podium finishes in the fiercely contested series. With a tactical master stroke, they managed to take overall victory at the Hockenheimring in 2021. Alongside Nicolaj Møller Madsen and Finn Zulauf as well as Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still, they form the third promising driver duo from W&S Motorsport.

"I am very happy to be competing with W&S Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany in 2022. After the first test in Hockenheim with the team, I can only confirm that it is a super likeable squad that works very professionally. The test went well and I am really looking forward to the coming season. My goal is to learn as much as possible and to achieve top results," says Leo Pichler.

"I am incredibly happy that the switch from the KTM to the Porsche Cayman GT4 worked out for me this year," explains Leon Wassertheurer. "Already after the first laps at the test at the Hockenheimring, it became clear to me that it would take a big change in driving style to reach the required speed in the Porsche. But I am convinced that with the professional support of W&S Motorsport, I will manage this well. Many thanks to the team for their support and trust! I'm really looking forward to this season and can hardly wait for the first race."

The ADAC GT4 Germany will be staged as part of the ADAC GT Masters race weekends. The grid for 2022 will be packed as never before with more than 40 GT4 cars. The variety of brands with up to seven manufacturers, as well as the mix of experienced drivers and fast young talents, promises an exciting season on six demanding tracks. The season opener of the ADAC GT4 Germany will take place at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the last weekend in April, with one-hour races on both days.
