Two class wins and a class podium for W&S Motorsport at the GTC Race at the Nürburgring

W&S Motorsport had reason to celebrate on the second race weekend of the GTC Race at the Nürburgring. Moritz Berrenberg and Alexander Danzer each celebrated a victory in the Trophy classification in the two GT Sprint races on Sunday and Berrenberg took another podium finish with third place in the GT4 class. Luca Arnold finished on the podium in all three races and collected many championship points.

Moritz Berrenberg and Alexander Danzer in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #32 showed a good development and were able to continuously improve in all sessions. In the GT60 race on Saturday, they finished ninth in the GT4 class. In the first GT sprint race on Sunday, Danzer took seventh place in the GT4 cars and won the Trophy classification. His team-mate Berrenberg also won the Trophy classification in GT Sprint 2 and was third in the overall GT4 field

Tim Horrell in the PARAVAN Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #30 finished fifth in the one-hour race on Saturday, which he again contested as a single entrant. On Sunday, he had to retire early from the first sprint race after a collision and in the second 30-minute race he crossed the finish line sixth in the GT4 class and third in the Trophy.

Marko Elser and Nico Gründel in the sister car #31 finished the three races in tenth, ninth and sixth place in the GT4 class and were also able to show a positive development over the weekend.

Luca Arnold did not compete at the Nürburgring with his father Roland Arnold, but instead lined up as a single entrant in the #99 Mercedes-AMG GT3. He started third in the GT60 race on Saturday and took the lead at one point. After a spin and a furious chase to catch up, he was classified third. In the first sprint race, Luca Arnold started from second on the grid and finished third in difficult conditions on a wet track. He was second in the second sprint race and finished on the podium in every race.

In the championship standings, Luca Arnold shares first place in the GT60 powered by Pirelli with 45 points with two other drivers. He is in second position in the GT Sprint with 45 points. W&S Motorsport leads the GT Sprint team standings with 85 points.

Quotes after the race

Patrick Wagner, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "All drivers showed good development at the Nürburgring and were able to improve continuously. Moritz had a great start in the second sprint race and was able to bring home third place in the GT4, which was a great performance on his second race weekend in the series! Congratulations also to Luca, who finished on the podium three times in three races and delivered a good race. Hockenheim should suit us well and we hope that we can achieve good results there."

Marko Elser, Driver #31: "Our pace was consistently good. Coming out of the sprint qualifying in fourth place and thus as the best Porsche makes me happy and shows me that we can definitely cause a furore at the front of the field. Unfortunately, I was unable to realise my good pace in the sprint race due to my defensive driving style. We will continue to work hard and prepare as best we can to be further up the field next time."

Moritz Berrenberg, Driver 32: "I had a great start to the second sprint race, in which I was able to gain five places in the first two corners. At the beginning, I couldn't believe that I was third in the GT4 field. I was determined to hold on to that position until the end and fought with my rivals for the podium. I am very happy that it worked out! The team did a great job, the car was superbly prepared and the advice from my engineer really helped me to find more pace. Many thanks to everyone!"

Luca Arnold, Driver #99: "The weekend was very challenging, especially the change in the weather on Sunday morning. There was a big learning curve and the track conditions were not always easy. There were exciting duels. Competing in the race with my father was a completely new experience, and it was all the nicer that we stood on the podium together in the GT60 powered by Pirelli. Many thanks to the whole team."
