Second win of the season for W&S Motorsport in the GT4 European Series at Spa-Francorchamps

Max Kronberg and Finn Zulauf clinched W&S Motorsport's second victory of the season in the GT4 European Series at Spa-Francorchamps. The drivers of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #30 beat the competition in the Pro-Am class in Friday's night race on the legendary racetrack and finished seventh overall.

The team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas laid the foundations for success in the two qualifying sessions. Finn Zulauf secured second place on the grid for Race 1 and Max Kronberg took pole position in the Pro-Am class in the highly competitive series for the third time this year in the second qualifying session.

In Friday's race, Kronberg/Zulauf battled for victory right to the end and thanks to a good performance and clever pit stop strategy, the racing team from Ofterdingen was able to take first place. They took up the second race on Saturday from first spot on the grid and the two German drivers again crossed the finish line first in the Pro-Am class. Unfortunately, they dropped back to fifth place due to track limit offences.

Daniel Nilsson and Edvin Hellsten contested the GT4 European Series 2024 for the first time for Swedish partner team Nova Racing. Over the course of the race weekend, they were able to familiarise themselves with the number 27 car and consistently improve. In the first race, they retired after an accident on the last lap. On Saturday, the pair showed a strong recovery from 47th place and finished 26th overall and eleventh in the Pro-Am class.

W&S Motorsport still has a good chance in the championship and ranks second in both the team and driver standings. The next race weekend will take place from 19-21 July 2024 at the Hockenheimring.

Quotes after the race

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "We are delighted with the win and that we are still so well in contention for the championship. Nevertheless, it is a shame that we were not able to score full points for the second race as well, because we were the first to cross the finish line. Our partner team from Nova Racing has shown good development and I am sure that they will be able to achieve even better results next time. We will use the time until Hockenheim to prepare ourselves optimally and repeat our two victories from last year!"

Max Kronberg, Driver #30: "The race on Friday was great. We drove into the night, the atmosphere was incredible and we won! Finn already did a good job in qualifying. Things didn't go quite so well on Saturday and we had too many track limits, for which we were penalised. Unfortunately, this cost us victory in the Pro-Am. Nevertheless, we have made up ground in the championship and we will see how things go in the next races."

Finn Zulauf, Driver #30: "The first race was fantastic and Max drove very well. I am very happy about the win and it was a great stint in the sunset. The second race was unfortunately not so good, but we scored points for the championship and hopefully things will go even better for us in the next races."

Daniel Nilsson, Driver #27: "It was a great weekend and we learnt a lot from W&S Motorsport. The support and coaching was great, thanks to everyone! I am really looking forward to the road ahead to become an even better driver. Hockenheim is next on the programme and with the support of W&S Motorsport and Nova Racing, we will certainly improve even further."
