Three races, three victories: Successful weekend for W&S Motorsport at the GT4 Winter Series in Barcelona

W&S Motorsport concludes the GT4 Winter Series in Barcelona with three victories in the Pro-Am class. In all three races, Max Kronberg and Josef Knopp in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #31 were the best drivers in the class and stood at the top of the podium three times. Kronberg also took second place overall in the first sprint race.

Due to heavy rain on Saturday, qualifying could not take place and important practice time literally fell through. Max Kronberg tackled the first sprint race and started from second place. He defied the difficult track conditions and secured his first podium finish of the season with second position overall and victory in the Pro-Am class.

Josef Knopp took the wheel in the second sprint race on Sunday and also started from second place. He was initially able to defend his position well, but dropped back to fifth overall after contact and slight damage to the car. However, the 19-year-old retained the lead in the Pro-Am class and took the second victory of the weekend for the team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas.

The Kronberg/Knopp duo started the third race, which lasted one hour, from seventh position. In a hard-fought contest, they again finished as winners in the Pro-Am and sixth overall.

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "Three races, three wins - it doesn't get any better than this! Max and Josef did a great job and showed what potential they and our Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport have. Many thanks to the team for the perfect preparation and the great work! This closes the chapter GT4 Winter Series 2024 and we are looking forward to the start of the season in the GT4 European Series and ADAC GT4 Germany!"

Max Kronberg, Driver W&S Motorsport: "It was the perfect start to the 2024 racing year and it couldn't have gone better. After the long winter break, it was great fun to race again and fight for positions. Many thanks to the team for their excellent work! Now our focus is on the upcoming races to get the season off to the best possible start."

Josef Knopp, Driver W&S Motorsport:  "I am happy about the successful weekend in Barcelona. In our two race weekends in the GT4 Winter Series, we took five class wins, one overall win and one second place overall. That's a very good start with my new team W&S Motorsport! Now we have to take the momentum with us and prepare ourselves optimally for the start of the season in order to celebrate further successes."
