AVIA W&S Motorsport is Team Champion of the ADAC GT4 Germany 2023

In a thrilling ADAC GT4 Germany 2023 season finale at the Hockenheimring, AVIA W&S Motorsport celebrated two race wins, a third overall, three class victories, a pole position and won the championship title in the team standings.

David Jahn and Jannes Fittje in the GEDORE Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #31 provided the first success of the weekend after starting the race from second on the grid on Saturday and taking the lead through an outstanding performance and strategy. The duo defended the top position until the chequered flag dropped and celebrated their second win of the season. In the second race, they were once again on course for the podium when they dropped back to sixth place on the last lap due to a technical problem.

Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still in the Rodopi Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #30 had already heralded their personal weekend of success in the first qualifying session with sixth place on the grid. An impressive pace in the race saw them finish third overall and first in the Trophy standings. On Sunday, they celebrated their first pole position and took their first overall win in the series. This brought the team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas their fourth victory of the season and they also won the Trophy classification.

After having to retire their car in the first race on Saturday due to a technical defect, Finn Zulauf and Daniel Gregor in the AVIA racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #75 won the Junior classification on Sunday and just missed the podium with fourth place overall.

Nicolas Leutwiler and Leo Pichler climbed into the cockpit of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #32 for a guest start and showed impressive lap times straight away. In the second qualifying session they finished a strong fifth and ensured that all four AVIA W&S Motorsport cars were in the Top 5. In both races, the guest entrants finished 16th.

For AVIA W&S Motorsport, the finale at Hockenheim marks the end of an extremely successful season in the ADAC GT4 Germany.

Quotes after the race

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal AVIA W&S Motorsport: "It was an incredible season for us to finish with the title win in the team championship! We were close in all the other championships, but in the end it wasn't quite enough due to unfortunate circumstances. We will be back next year and will try everything to win the Driver, Junior and Trophy classifications as well. I would like to thank everyone in the team for their tireless efforts and professional work. I am proud to have such great and motivated team members. Without them, our partners and sponsors, this success would not be possible!"

Max Kronberg, Driver #30:  "It was a fantastic weekend for us! We never thought we would have such a great end to the season. It already started well with sixth place in qualifying and third overall on Saturday. On Sunday, Hendrik put the car on pole position and pulled out a good gap. The car was mega and I was able to maintain the lead. It's amazing for us to take an overall win in this strong field of drivers and it's even nicer that we've kept the flag flying for the team championship. It's an incredibly great way to end the season. Thanks to the whole team for a great job!"

David Jahn, Driver #31:  "We are very happy with the victory on Saturday,! Unfortunately we had a technical problem on Sunday while running in third place on the last lap and dropped back to sixth position, which is a great shame. We still won the team championship, congratulations to everyone! It's an absolute team effort and a great team! It was a cool season and a lot of fun, even if it wasn't enough for the top spot in the drivers' championship in the end. Many thanks to Jannes and the whole team!"

Daniel Gregor, Driver #75: "Winning the Junior classification is a nice reward as we had a lot of bad luck recently. We had a good pace and just missed the overall podium. I had a lot of fun this season with Finn and the team. We have often shown that we are among the best. The victory at the Lausitzring was a great result and we had a good season with many podiums. Many thanks to the whole team!"
