Class victory for W&S Motorsport at the third round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie

Fourth win of the season in the Cup3 class for W&S Motorsport in the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS). Moritz Oberheim, Lucas Daugaard and Joshua Bednarski were once again at the top of the podium at the third round in the Green Hell, crossing the finish line first in the CMS Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport #962. With this result, they continue to lead the Cup3 championship of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) and have also taken the championship lead in the overall NLS standings.

Due to fog in the morning, qualifying was postponed by almost two hours and shortened to one hour. The CMS Porsche #962 secured second place on the grid and was able to take the lead of the Cup3 field on the first lap. In a flawless race and with a strong pace, Oberheim/Daugaard/Bednarski were able to clinch their fourth class victory and also achieved a top position in the overall standings with 16th place.

Daniel Blickle, Tim Scheerbarth and David Jahn in the AVIA racing Porsche 992 GT3 Cup #120 started the 4-hour race from eighth place in the Cup2 classification and 13th overall. In the highly competitive PETN class, they embarked on an impressive race to catch up and made up many places. They also had a strong pace and fought for victory in Cup2. In the end, they crossed the finish line in second position in class and seventh overall.

Hendrik Still, Jürgen Vöhringer and Stephan Brodmerkel in the Massivhaus Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #164 finished qualifying in a good fourth place in the SP10 class. In the race, they had no problems getting through the Green Hell and finished seventh.

In the Porsche Cayman 981 2.7l #450, Peter Siebert, Markus Lönnroth and Oliver Kunz took pole position in the V5 class and also completed a good race. After four hours, they crossed the finish line in second place.

The next round of the NLS will take place as a 6-hour race on 3 August 2024.

Quotes after the race

Patrick Wagner, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "We are delighted with another victory for the CMS Porsche #962. Moritz, Lucas and Joshua delivered a great race and deserved their fourth win of the season. We were also able to fight for victory with the AVIA racing Porsche #120, but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough. Second place in the hard-fought Cup2 class is nevertheless a good result. The Massivhaus Porsche #164 and the Porsche V5 #450 also had a good race and crossed the finish line without any damage. Next time we will try to improve on that and achieve more top results. However, we are a little disappointed that a competitor in the Cup3 class lodged a very unfair protest, which would have had nothing to do with the race result. It is a great shame that there are teams who don't want to fight it out on the track, but with the stewards afterwards. This is not the way we race and how we treat our competitors on and off the track, and we feel this is a great pity from a sporting point of view."

David Jahn, Driver #120: "It was a great race and all the drivers did a fantastic job. It was all good and we did everything right in the sprint poker at the end. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on the last lap and that cost us the win. It is a shame because we could have won on our own. But we are second and have scored a lot of points. Next time we will attack again and then we will bring home the win!"

Joshua Bednarski, Driver #962: "The first hour of the race was completely crazy and I was able to pull out a gap. The car was very good and we are very happy about the win! We finished second in the first race of the season and after that we won all the races. It was a strong performance from everyone and nobody made a mistake. The co-operation with all the drivers is perfect and the team works very professionally. We are leading the championship at the moment and want to be at the top in the last race as well, that is our goal. We will give it our all and continue to work hard!"
