W&S Motorsport celebrates three podium finishes with Luca Arnold in GTC Race at the Lausitzring

Ofterdingen/Klettwitz: The second round of the GTC Race took place at the EuroSpeedway Lausitzring from 16 to 17 July 2022. W&S Motorsport started with the Paravan Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 #7, driven by young talent Luca Arnold. The German scored a pole position and took excellent podium finishes in all three races.

For the GT60 Powered by Pirelli on Saturday, the prospects were already good for Luca Arnold. He put the Paravan Cayman GT4 #7 in fifth position in class in qualifying and drove a commanding start. During the one-hour race, which he contested alone, he managed to hold his own without making any mistakes, gained two positions and crossed the finish line in third place.

On Sunday, he started the first GT Sprint race from third position. Arnold managed this confidently and defended himself successfully in the battles. In the end, he was once again able to celebrate third place together with W&S Motorsport. Arnold took up the second 30-minute sprint from pole position, but was unable to hold on to the lead in the starting scrum between the GT3 cars. He attacked determinedly to regain positions and passed the chequered flag again in third place.

The next GTC Race event will be held at the Nürburgring from 29 to 31 July 2022 as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend.

Quotes after the weekend

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "After Luca had to miss the season opener and has not been behind the wheel since, he impressively showed his talent at the Lausitzring. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the team and the engineers, his learning curve continues to climb steeply. With pole position and three podium finishes, he and the team did a great job. We are happy to take the points and look forward to the next GTC race at the Nürburgring."

Luca Arnold, Driver #7: "The qualifying for the GT 60 already went very well. We had to change from rain tyres to slicks, but W&S Motorsport applied the perfect pressure to the tyres and after a few laps I felt very comfortable in the car. From fifth to third position was the maximum I could get out of it. The podium was very important for my confidence. In the first sprint race, I even managed to work my way up from third place to the lead for a while, but I had to let my opponents go at the end and had to be satisfied with another third place. After the crew had worked on the set-up again, I was able to clinch pole position for the second sprint race. Unfortunately, there was an incident in front of me in the race, I got stuck in traffic and lost two places as a result. When I got into my rhythm, I almost finished second, but it wasn't enough. I am very happy about three podium finishes! W&S Motorsport did an outstanding job again and gave me great support. Many thanks to the whole team!"
