Further podium successes for AVIA W&S Motorsport at the ADAC GT4 Germany round at the Sachsenring

AVIA W&S Motorsport scored further successes on the penultimate race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring. David Jahn and Jannes Fittje clinched another podium finish overall for the team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas after finishing second at the Lausitzring.

The duo in the GEDORE Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #31 started from pole position in the first race on Saturday and initially managed to retain the top position. Temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius once again caused a heat battle, which posed a great challenge to the vehicle, tyres and drivers. David Jahn and Jannes Fittje defied the conditions and finished in second place overall.

Finn Zulauf and Daniel Gregor in the AVIA racing Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #75 tackled the first race from position four and were fighting for a podium place in the Junior classification until shortly before the finish, when they had to retire their car after a puncture shortly before the checkered flag dropped.

Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still again showed a strong race and fought their way forward from eleventh place to fourth. After 41 laps they crossed the finish line in seventh position in the RODOPI Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #30. Max Kronberg finished second in the Trophy classification.

On Sunday, Jannes Fittje repeated the top result in qualifying from the previous day and, like his team-mate David Jahn, also secured pole position. Finn Zulauf in second place on the grid and Hendrik Still in third also put in a strong performance. Thus, AVIA W&S Motorsport celebrated its best qualifying result in the German racing series so far with three cars in the top 3.

Jannes Fittje and David Jahn in the #31 GEDORE Porsche Cayman GT4 managed the race well and led the field for a long time ahead of the sister car #75 of Finn Zulauf and Daniel Gregor. Tyre punctures on the two top-placed cars, each after a trip over the kerb, brought an abrupt end to the successful drive and the dream of a double victory was shattered.

Max Kronberg and Hendrik Still fought their way to seventh position in the overall standings in the heat battle at the Sachsenring and another podium finish with second place in the Trophy class.

In the team standings, AVIA W&S Motorsport are in second place, ten points behind the leader. The ADAC GT4 Germany season finale will be held at the Hockenheimring from 20 to 22 October.

Quotes after the race

Max Kronberg, Driver #30: "It was a good weekend for us. We finished second twice in the Trophy class and seventh overall twice. Nevertheless, there is a small drop of bitterness because we could have done better on Saturday. On Sunday we struggled a bit and there were many punctures, so we had to be careful. Overall, we can be happy with the result."

David Jahn, Driver #31: "It was a good start at the Sachsenring with pole position and second place on Saturday. We were very happy about that and there was nothing more we could have done. A top performance also from Jannes, who also clinched pole position on Sunday and drove a great first half of the race. Unfortunately, I made a small mistake, which was fatally punished with a puncture. It was just a mini-miss, but unfortunately that's the way it is and we have to accept that. We won't be able to have a say in the drivers' championship anymore. Now we will try to win the team championship at the Hockenheimring and give everything again!"

Finn Zulauf, Driver #75: "Unfortunately, it didn't go as well for us as we had hoped. We had two punctures and therefore go home without points. We are very disappointed, the championship is only theoretically possible. It is a pity because we had a very good pace the whole weekend. We started from second and fourth place and could have scored a lot of points. In Hockenheim we will attack again to win the title in the team classification."
