W&S Motorsport finishes the 24h race at the Nürburgring with both cars in the top 50

Ofterdingen/Nürburg: W&S Motorsport had good reason to celebrate at the anniversary edition of the endurance classic in the Eifel. At the 50th ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring, the team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas finished in the top 50 overall with both Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS cars and were delighted with seventh (#250) and eighth (#251) places in the Cup 3 class.

The race twice around the clock was dominated by many accidents and multiple weather changes up to sleet showers added to the excitement. Undeterred by these events, the strategy of the squad from Ofterdingen was perfect at all times and the drivers brought both cars to the finish line almost without a scratch.

In front of an impressive backdrop of more than 230,000 spectators around the Nordschleife, a long-awaited wish came true for Jürgen Vöhringer: to drive through 24 hours without interruption. After crossing the finish line in the significantly shortened 2021 race, he was able to tackle the full distance in the Vöhringer Cayman #250 this year. Just like his teammates René Höber, Axel Duffner and Dirk Biermann, the 62-year-old drove faultlessly and crossed the finish line in 38th place overall.

The AVIA racing Cayman GT4 #251 was driven by the Swiss Urs and Markus Zünd, Viktor Schyrba and Benedikt Frei. The four Swiss also put in a strong performance and finished behind the sister car in eighth place in class and 45th overall.

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "The 50th edition of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring is behind us and we were able to drive through for the first time in a long time. When I look back on the race, especially the first hours, we can be happy that both cars only had to pit for refuelling, changing drivers and wheels and the necessary service. Our drivers made it through without any mistakes and the result is quite remarkable. The whole team worked perfectly, many thanks for that!"

Patrick Wagner, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "I still can't believe that we completed the entire race distance without any problems after having rebuilt the AVIA Cayman within two weeks. All the drivers, also the less experienced ones on the Nordschleife, did a great job and I am very happy for our team. The crew worked very well together. A big credit to all of them and thank you very much!"

Jürgen Vöhringer, Driver #250: "It was my first full 24-hour race and all I can say is that it was awesome! Of course, it was extremely exhausting and demanding, but thanks to the fantastic support from the team, everything worked perfectly. My three team mates also did great, there was not a single penalty in all the hours. I think we can all be very proud of what we achieved."

René Höber, Driver #250: "It was a dream come true for me, because ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to drive in the 24-hour race. Then to get the honour of crossing the finish line right at my first participation ... I can't put into words how happy I am about it! The entire W&S Motorsport team did an incredible job, many thanks to everyone - also behind the scenes. A super squad!"

Urs Zünd, Driver #251: "After the heavy accident at the 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers, I would never have thought that we would bring the car home at the toughest race in the world. We are very happy that it worked out. W&S Motorsport rebuilt the Cayman in such a short time and prepared it perfectly. All four drivers of the number 251 car are combined 218 years old, so eighth place in class is more than satisfying for us and we are very happy about the top 50 overall result."
